Summary

Chapter 3. Moments after Entragian takes Cynthia and Steve into the E-Z Stop, a metallic blue van pulls to a stop across the street. Down the street, Gary Soderson argues with his wife about whether or not she heard the gunshot from their upstairs bathroom. At the same time, the Carvers make their way down the street. Dave Carver stops and tells Peter Jackson what has happened. Inside his home, Johnny Marinville calls 911, but instead of the calm operator he gets the voice of a child who tells him a vulgar rhyme and then threatens him should he use the phone again. When Johnny does try the phone again, it is dead.

As the Carvers continue up the street, Tom Billingsley comes out of his house and asks what has happened. Dave tells him as he continues to walk under his wife's orders. As the Carvers...
