Summary

Chapter 1 explains how Henry had heart problems when he was born. He blames this for his sensitivity. As a teenager, he used alcohol and drugs to dull the pain of his intense emotions. He dated Tabitha for two years after he finished college. When she turned down his proposal, Henry was heartbroken.

In Chapter 2, Henry meets Luc outside his apartment one night. He notices that Luc resembles his brother but is far more handsome. Despite the rain, Luc stays miraculously dry. Based off his knowledge of literature and scripture, Henry assumes that Luc is the devil. Still, Henry believes that Luc is a mere hallucination, prompted by an accidental overdose of his medication.
