Summary

After Chona’s funeral, Paper approaches Fatty and insists that he has to help Addie and Nate bust Dodo out of Pennhurst. Overcome by affection for Paper, Fatty reluctantly agrees to take her to Hemlock Row, a Black neighborhood outside of Pottstown, and brings Big Soap with him as backup. Paper leaves Fatty and Big Soap in the car in order to enter a house and meet with a woman named Miggy Fludd, who is a member of the Lowgod family. Miggy tells a man named Bullis to help Paper with her problem. Miggy further explains that she knows a man who works at Pennhurst—a fellow Lowgod named Son of Man—but that he has gone astray.
