Chapters 31-33 Summary

Chapter 31

Severn accuses Gladstone of allowing millions to die by conspiring to start the war. She does not deny it, but she tells him that she had a choice between war with possible survival and peace with total annihilation. Severn brings Gladstone up to speed on what he has been dreaming about the pilgrims. When he tells her Sol handed Rachel over to the Shrike and that the Time Tombs has opened, she agrees to release the hold on the Consul's ship and send a party with it up the Hoolie River to find the Consul. CEO Gladstone points out that Severn is now dreaming about events which neither the Keats persona nor Brawne Lamia can have witnessed.
