Roland Deschain, Jake Chambers, and Oy land in America, outside a general store in Maine. Inside, a woman named Mrs. Tassenbaum, one of the summer tourists, who is getting groceries. The storeowner sees Roland come in and runs, remembering the trouble Roland caused at the store when he visited in 1977. They take the shopkeeper's truck keys. Roland and Jake ask Mrs. Irene Tassenbaum to drive them to Turtleback Lane, where Stephen King will have his accident. Meanwhile, a man named Brian Smith is driving his van from a campground. He has a cooler of hamburger meat in the van, as well as his two dogs. Roland and Jake get to Stephen...
