Summary

In Chapter Eight, Susie became withdrawn and morose around the house and the other contestants voted her off the show at the next available opportunity. She was distressed and had to be forcibly removed by the other contestants. Once outside of the compound she tried to get back in, afraid to be alone in the desert. A car pulled up suddenly and people ushered her inside. Lily and the others were surprised to see the production staff were so nearby, having not seen anyone so far. Soon after they voted to banish Mia and Marcus, reducing the number of residents to ten. Lily was acutely aware that the type of rewards on offer would improve for anyone who made it to the final five.
