Chapter 7 Summary

Corwi and Borlu are waiting in the airport to pick up Geary's parents on their flight from Canada. Corwi says she spoke with Mahalia's supervisor on the dig. The woman, Nancy, verifies that Mahalia was a student working on the dig and that she went missing. When Corwi sends the photo to Nancy, Nancy verifies it is Mahalia Geary. Nancy says she was a great student and can't believe she was murdered.

The Gearys emerge from the plane. Borlu addresses them in English, and then Corwi and Borlu drive the Gearys to see their daughter's body. As they drive, Borlu thinks that they will have to stay with the Gearys everywhere so that they don't breach. Normal visitors have to undergo training and then pass an exam to receive a visa, so that they know the differences between Beszel and Ul Qoma. When...
