Chapter 28 Summary

Wolfgang Mauss says the funeral service for Robb three days later as Robb is laid to rest next to Karen. Longstaff isn't there since the fleet had already sailed for Canton. Wilf Tillman is sick with the fever, but all of the others are in attendance. A simultaneous Chinese funeral possession is also taking place. The Chinese procession was arranged by Gordon Chen and he and Tai-Pan gain great face from honoring the Chinese gods. Gordon is already one of the biggest landowners and businessmen in Hong Kong and this greatly enhances his stature in the eyes of the Chinese people. He is also well respected and obeyed in the Triads. He is now known as the Tai-Pan of Tai Ping Shan.
