Point of View

The novel is written in first person from Wren's limited perspective. The reader knows only what Wren knows, and sees the situations only from Wren's view. One of the main problems with this limited perspective is that Wren is unable to trust. She has led a brutal life, and people who should have loved and protected her have not done so. The result is that she expects the worst from everyone in her life. She is sometimes able to get past that natural distrust, but usually not for long. When she sees any indication that her trust has been misplaced, she reverts back to her natural distrust. Readers do not know what other characters are thinking or feeling.
