Rose Hathaway

Rose or Rosemarie Hathaway is from a half-human and half-vampire species known as Dhampirs. She exists in a hidden world that is unknown to mankind of peaceful, living vampires who do not prey on humans known as Moroi. The two species of Dhampir and Moroi have aligned themselves against the evil Strigoi, full-on undead vampires who slaughter humans, Dhampirs and Moroi alike for blood and sport. Because the Moroi have traditionally been pacifists, the Dhampirs like Rose train to defend the Royal Moroi as Guardians.

Rose has trained her entire young life to become a Dhampir Guardian. Only the most elite, most intelligent of candidate Dhampirs will ever achieve the rank of Royal Moroi Guardian.
