Chapter Ten Summary

Dimitri and two of his Strigoi stooges attack Rose and the rest in the hotel hallway. A ferocious battle ensues. Several human hotel guards are killed in the process as Dimitri's vampire henchmen show no mercy on them. Rose is ultimately put into a tug-of-war between Eddie on the one side and a growling Dimitri on the other, each attempting to draw her to his respective side. Eddie triumphs this encounter when he pulls Rose to safety outside onto a hotel balcony and into the direct sunlight. Thwarted, Dimitri retreats, but warns Rose with a mocking laugh that there is nowhere on the globe she can travel where he cannot and therefore will not find and destroy her. Worse yet, a quick regrouping reveals that both Victor and Robert have vanished from the casino.
