Chapters 4-6 Summary

In Chapter 4, Hannah starts by discussing her move to Slaterville in more detail. She states that her mother was "destroyed" at the time and that they drove to Slaterville on an impulse. Hannah also mentions that her step-father Jose's ashes were also in the car, although she does not mention how he died. Hannah remembers having a more "normal" life when Jose was alive and she shares her thoughts on feeling embarrassed that her mother's current job is running a website on which she talks on camera with customers about her past ventures and relationships while wearing lingerie. Hannah discusses further how her mother's lifestyle choices have affected the way others view both of them, specifically focusing on her neighbors, the Howards, who continue to stare at Hannah and her mother, despite having lived next to each other for several years...
