Chapter 11 Summary

Bram and Kaitlin go through the old documents in the garage. Kaitlin finds Maggie's old diary, as well as a baby blanket. She can also tell that hatred of the Malones runs deep in Bram, and she begins to cry. Bram kisses away her tears, and the two of them kiss.

Chapter 11 Analysis

The human side of the Crutchfields -including Maggie Crutchfield, considered the progenitor of the family feud -becomes apparent. The soft, tiny baby blanket so lovingly preserved by Maggie and the Crutchfields makes Kaitlin cry. The hatred that has helped to form her identity is slowly washing away.
