Chapter 2 Summary

Abby is excited to get to go to public school, but Kaitlin is not at all happy. She takes comfort in the fact that she doesn't have a full schedule, and can head home after lunch because she already has so many credits from classes. Two boys in history are checking Kaitlin out. She decides to call them the Bookends.

By fourth period, Kaitlin is overwhelmed by everything and needs a place to sit and think. She finds an area on the campus that is shady and cool. She writes in her journal about her fears. Kaitlin also notices a boy nearby, alone and apparently sketching. She discovers at lunch that his name is Bram, and that he is very popular. Kaitlin wonders why a popular boy would want seclusion.

Kaitlin is happy to head home.
