Summary

The third story is called “God Forgive Us”. It is told from the perspective of three elderly sisters who live alone with their even more elderly mother in an impoverished barrio in Mexico. One of the sisters narrates. She recalls how the neighborhood has changed over the years. The state doesn’t officially recognize that the residents own the land that they have built their houses on as a result of which they are not connected to utilities like electricity and police do not patrol the area, making it a hot bed of crime.
