Lux McAllister

Lux is the first-person narrator and protagonist in Reckless Girls. At the outset of the novel, she is living in Hawaii her boyfriend Nico, working at a resort to pay rent. She had followed him to the Pacific Island because he promised her adventure and travel. However, upon arriving in Maui, his boat, the Susannah was damaged, and their plot was foiled. Shortly after she is fired, Lux agrees to meet up with Nico and the women he met at the marina. When Brittany asks her to join them on the trip to Meroe Island, Lux is hesitant but decides to go along. She is convinced that with “the Susannah fixed, with enough money left over to stock her well [..] the adventure [she had] signed on for could start” (27). As they sail to the remote atoll, a brutal storm arises, and Lux helps Nico control the ship...
