Summary

Chapter 22. After Queenie moves out of the house and in with her grandparents, she quickly realizes how much she misses her freedom. Their controlling ways lead her to remember the controlling ways of Roy, who belittled both her and her mother in ways that were verbally, physically, and emotionally violent. She tries to sleep in, but her grandmother wakes her up early with a series of demands about breakfast and plans for a full day of work around the house. Queenie tries to say she is not well, but her grandmother is having none of it. At one point Queenie has a panic attack in the bathtub, and her grandmother is not sympathetic.
