Summary

Chapter 8. After two weeks of no sex, as Queenie is going back to the sexual health clinic, she reflects on how good she is doing at work and how well she is taking care of herself, particularly her hair. As she is waiting to be examined, she gets texts from the Welshman (Guy), wanting to have sex with her again. She puts him off. Then, as she is examined, she becomes angry when the older white woman she is speaking to (Elspeth) looks at her file and makes some suggestions about how she could better take care of herself. Afterwards she has lunch with Cassandra, who tells her about the new man she is seeing, and who reminds Queenie, when she complains about Gina not taking any of her “Black Lives Matter” stories seriously, that Queenie had once said that her presence...
