Chapter Five Summary

As a child, Will Flying Horse had dreamed of thunder and lightning, so his grandfather, Cyrus, took him to see a shaman about becoming a Dreamer. A hundred years ago he would have been a crazy holy man. But in 1969, he had a peyote experience with the shaman and went on a vision quest. An eagle told him he has chosen a difficult life. Wishing he were back in reality and cursing himself for doing this, he almost starves to death, but first has a vision of a girl in a snowstorm that he needs to help. His world is split in two by lightning.

Blissful, Cassie knows now that she has history with Alex. The words, "It is a good day to die", come back to her mind, and she touches her swollen lower lip, remembering it was a lecture...
