Summary

In Chapter 18, spring turns to summer, and Inti and her teammates continue to monitor the wolves. The wolf packs appear to be thriving, but Inti worries that the townspeople will still take any chance they can get to kill the wolves. One day, Inti asks Duncan directly if he killed Stuart. Duncan does not answer the question. When Inti goes home, she finds Aggie cowering. Aggie says simply, “He’s out there” (156), referring to Gus. Inti replies, “He’s not out there, because he’s dead. I killed him” (157). Aggie is shocked, but she believes what Inti has said. The next day, Inti and hear team members are sad to discover that two of the wolves have been killed by one or more of the other wolves. Aggie decides to investigate Stuart’s death, and she phones her mother to ask for advice on...
