London

The Traction city of London is one of the main settings of the novel. London is one of the largest cities on wheels that roams the area once known as Europe. This is where Tom Natsworthy was born and the novel begins. The main characters travel through various parts of London, notably the Gut and the London Museum. The Gut is the underbelly of London where smaller cities that have been eaten are taken apart and where the Engineer's conduct some of their experiments. The London Museum is where Tom had lived and where quite a bit of Katherine's storyline takes place.
