Thomas Natsworthy

Thomas Natsworthy is one of the main protagonists and is the first character focus of the third person narration. Tom is a Third-Class Apprentice in the Guild of Historians in the London Museum. Tom is only a Third-Class Apprentice because his parents were poor Historians that were killed in a deck-plate collapse when he was younger. All Thomas has ever wanted was to become a full Historian and he idolizes Thaddeus Valentine. However, his idol disappoints him and Tom slowly learns that the London he had loved his entire life was not what it seemed. He begins an adventure with Hester, which morphs his moral code, leading him to aide in the destruction of London. Tom still has conflicting feelings for his home city at the end of the novel; he has come to the conclusion that it is not truly his home.
