Chapters 28 - 30 Summary

Chapter 28: Jonathan reaches Rex and Dess. Rex says he needs Jessica now. Jonathan and Rex fly back to Jenks.

Chapter 29: Jessica stumbles around to find Beth. She thought she remembered the way but it seems further away than she recalls. Melissa guides Jessica's mind to the right place. Jessica finds the cave and finds a powerful old darkling covering the entrance. She hears screaming from inside the cave. The old darkling does not respond to Jessica's flashlight and instead Jessica has to light several flares to destroy the midnight creature.

As Jessica rescues Beth and Cassie, she urges them to move quickly. Jessica knows what kind of trouble they could find themselves in if another of those darklings comes near but Beth refuses to budge. She will not leave until Jessica explains what is going on. Beth does not trust Jessica...
