Summary
Jody noticed Girtle and interrogated her about Mice’s whereabouts. Girtle revealed some of her life history to Jody, recounting how she was abandoned by her birth family as soon as she was born and given to an adoptive family who quickly decided they did not want to keep her, so they left her at an orphanage. Jody interrupted her, complaining she did not have time to hear her entire life story, and asked when she had last seen Mice. Girtle told her Mice was hiding in a light well in front of the bank after being harassed by the teenagers. In the narration, Girtle reflected on how happy and grateful she was that in the time she had lived with the sisters neither of them had hit her. She asked Jody if she could keep living with them for a few more months...
