Summary

As they continue to search throughout Lightlark’s nature to find the heart in Chapter 26, Isla asks King Oro about Cleo. He says he respects her, especially her dedication to her realm’s wellbeing. When Isla asks why all the other Centennials had failed to lift the curse, Oro angrily replies that the reason why the curse has not been broken is that it is not as simple as one person needs to die, as all the realms are connected and would affect each other. So they need to discover who ought to die instead of restoring to a battle royal. Despite her romantic interest in the Nightshade, Isla suggests killing Grim, since his realm is totally detached from Lightlark. He explains that killing the Nightshade could unleash incomprehensible danger before leaving to search for plants in a different direction.
