Summary

Chapter 7 begins with the rulers dueling in front of a crowd from across the island. Celeste and Isla plan to perform poorly in each competition so that they do not become targets. However, due to Isla’s extensive training, she defeats Grim out of spite and almost defeats Oro before throwing the match. During the battle, Oro looks at Isla in a way that makes it clear that he knows she intentionally lost to him.

In Chapter 8 Celeste is disappointed in Isla’s impressive performance and Isla feels guilty because Celeste has continued to support her even after revealing to her that she was powerless. Celeste reveals that she found nothing in her realm’s library, meaning the bondbreaker has to be in the Skyling, Moonling, or Sunling libraries.
