Chapters 43 and 44 Summary

On Liam's birthday, he is woken up by the smoke detector going off in the trailer. He opens his door to a smoke-filled kitchen and all of the guys making him breakfast. They give him a leather portfolio and a gift certificate to have a photo session at the same place his mom had her first photos taken. Liam gets choked up because nobody has ever done anything like this for him before.

When Liam gets home from school, he cleans the kitchen from breakfast. When Pete starts to set up for band practice, Liam asks him to skip practice tonight but Pete refuses. Liam gets dressed for dinner with his dad and the guys starts arriving for practice. On their second set, there is a knock at the door. It's an Army recruiter sent by Liam's dad to talk about...
