Jane McKinney

Jane McKinney is a health insurance agent who has just lost Melody, her only daughter, to a drug overdose. She has been dealing with Melody's addiction since Melody was fifteen years old. Jane joined an Al-Anon group to help her deal with the problem. She tried over the years to help her daughter by paying for treatment programs, but none of them worked. Her daughter chose to find places to crash with friends rather than stay with her mother where she would have to stay sober and clean.

Jane is desperately trying to discover who her daughter had become during the year absence from her life. She sees Caleb as a connection to her daughter, but she also feels a connection to him.
