Summary

In Chapter 17, Jane is busy with work and enjoys the distraction. She sees all the progress that Caleb is making and knows that soon it will be done and he will leave. Jane is also thinking about her brother. Caleb suggests Jane should go and see Jonathan. Jane asks Caleb if he still thinks about Austin. He asks if she would come with him if she went. She says she cannot move to Texas because everything she has is here. He says they will talk about it later.

Jane goes to see Jonathan. She remembers when he got old enough to fight their father back. Their father stopped hitting them, but the verbal abuse continued. She was relieved when he died of a massive heart attack. Jonathan is cocky and cannot believe he is still in jail. He cannot believe they are trying...
