Summary

Weakened and covered with bug bites, Iqbal is brought out of the Tomb and rests for a day. Salman tells Iqbal that he was brave but also foolish because nothing was accomplished by his actions. He wants to know why Iqbal did what he did, and Iqbal says he did it for himself as well as for the others because bonded labor is unfair and needs to change. He insists that the others are now more brave because of what he did.

Things seemingly return to normal. A new boy, Twig, comes to the factory. Fatima realizes that while little seemed to change, their attitudes have changed. They work more reluctantly, and they even laugh at times. Hussein appears afraid that Iqbal will ruin his newest rug like he did his last. The children continue to meet at night, and one night...
