Summary

Chapter 20, “The Storm,” opens with Rose suggesting the girls go back. Flor reminds the girls that Margaret snuck out several times last summer without getting caught. Margaret remembers the boy asking her to keep their relationship a secret and agreeing to it. With a storm coming in fast, Flor wants them to take shelter in Margaret’s family summer home Shady Bluff. Inside they feel like they should not be there and that it is “full of ghosts” (62) and “feels like a grave” (65). Margaret feels trapped.

In Chapter 21, “The Forgotten," Margaret remembers last summer and the girls all going to Shady Bluff. The girls are happy and Margaret is in love with the boy.
