Chapters 3 & 4 Summary

Stephanie and Ranger stand in the elevator and Ranger tells Stephanie about the situation. Ranger had a meeting with Homer, and after leaving, someone had killed Homer. Ranger had not shot him, or set the fire. Ranger had not appeared in court because he was looking for someone and could not continue looking if he was in jail. There was also the chance of someone trying to kill him in retaliation for Homer's murder if Ranger appeared in public. Stephanie tells Ranger about Mitchell and Habib following her. Ranger tells her that the work for Arturo Stolle, the carpet king. Ranger warns Stephanie away from Stolle, and asks her to do some light surveillance of the townhouse where Hannibal Ramos is staying while in town. Ranger warns Stephanie to be careful of the Ramos family and disappears as quickly as he had turned...
