School

Several scenes are set in this school, which is never named and is described only in general terms necessary to keep the action flowing. For example, Eyes often goes to the bathroom to read the notes so that he can hide in a stall. The bullies sometimes shove him into lockers or beat him up in the hall. These general descriptions make the school seem ordinary.

Whale Park

Whale Park is a small neighborhood park where Eyes and Kojima meet for the first time and for the last time. The park does not have an official named, but Kojima adopts this name because of the concrete whale that forms the centerpiece of the park. In the final scene, Kojima has a breakdown, pulls off all her clothes, and winds up being carried away.

The Museum

Kojima takes Eyes to the museum to show him her favorite painting. She...
