Chapter 2 Summary

When Susanna arrives home from the pool party, she falls asleep and dreams about a boy she has a crush on, Bryce Martinsen. A woman, about her mother's age, screaming and crying wakes Susannah up in the middle of the night. When Susannah asks the ghost what's wrong, she says that she needs Susannah to tell Red that he didn't kill her and that it's not his fault. Shortly after the ghost leaves, Jesse, another ghost wakes her up. He's the Spanish son of a rancher who used to own the house in 1850. He had first appeared to Susannah two weeks ago. Susannah thinks Jesse is very attractive, but is sure that there are rules against mediators and ghosts becoming involved. Jesse chastises Susannah for not getting the name of the ghost woman and for the way Susannah treated her. Susannah doesn't tell...
