Summary

An appointment with social services was scheduled on August 23, 2002. She had arranged for someone to drive her but at the last minute, the person cancelled. She was scared. She’d have to walk and was sure she’d be late. Her cousin, Deanna, agreed to walk with her. Even though they left hours before the appointment time, Michelle was still going to be late to the appointment. She decided to turn back because she was lost and told Deanna to head back without her. She would stop to find a pay phone to let social services know what happened. On her trek back home, she asked several people where social services was located. Suddenly she heard a man’s voice say that he knew where it was. The man was Ariel Castro. He agreed to give her a ride.
