Summary

In Chapter 11, it is revealed that Maeve and Corvallis, and Maeve in particular, have become the center of conspiracy theories and speculation online. Pluto, one of the founders of Corporation 9592, meets with them and offers his help to clear Maeve’s name. Pluto’s plan is to fill up the internet with as many contradictory rumors and insults about Maeve, so that no single insult about her will seem believable. As Maeve considers the offer, Corvallis and Pluto speculate on who started the hoax in Moab, and Corvallis considers if the perpetrator may have been El. It is revealed to the reader that El did in fact gain control of Dodge’s brain. Maeve finally agrees and Pluto’s plan is put into motion. The plan is successful.
