Structure
Everything is Tuberculosis: The History and Persistence of our Deadliest Infection is a non-fiction book by author, novelist, philanthropist, and Youtuber John Green. It is Green’s second non-fiction book. He employs the style of his novels, while focusing exclusively on real people. It has 23 chapters, with an Introduction at the beginning and a Postscript, Acknowledgements, and a further reading list at the end. Every book in the further reading list is cited somewhere in Everything is Tuberculosis, but not every book (or poem, short story, or essay) cited is included in the further reading list. These chapters range anywhere from three to twenty pages. Much of Everything is Tuberculosis centers around the story of Henry, a young TB patient Green meets in the first chapter.
