Section 14: Chapter 25 & 26 Summary

In Chapter 25, Jacqueline thinks about why showing up unannounced and uninvited is a bad idea as she drives to Lucas' apartment on Sunday night, but she is leaving Tuesday morning and cannot let him dismiss her without a fight. Her heart stops when a girl's voice tells Lucas that there is a girl at the door, but Lucas explains that the girl is Carlie Heller who is visiting him along with her brother, Caleb. Lucas is not sorry to see Jacqueline, but he tells her that he is trying to protect her from himself because he does not do this. Jacqueline argues that just because he has not done this before, it does not mean that he is incapable of doing this.
