Summary

In Chapter 28, the Moors bring Alex to Club Chic hall for his approval and the hall meets all of his requirements. Alex offers to arrange for the guards and tells Rufus to call the musician’s union for a band leader. The gang decides to rent the hall, but the owner wants $50 upfront. Rufus manages to negotiate with the owner by offering $60 and have the gang clean the hall before and after.

Rufus calls the union and asks for the name of a band leader. He gets the name of Bill Bibbs who tells Rufus the band needs $90 upfront for a Saturday and $70 upfront for a Friday. Rufus decides on having the dance Friday. The boys get posters printed and Rufus makes sure there are plenty of posters in Cathedral Heights.
