Summary

In Chapter 4, Rufus explores the house with his brother and sister trailing along behind. He decides to take a nap and he dreams of being surrounded by an armed gang. He tries to fight them off but there are too many, out of nowhere Ernie Brown appears and helps Rufus defeat the gang.

Rufus’ brother Curtis peeks in and tells Rufus they are going to collect mustard greens for dinner. As Rufus is collecting the greens with his brother and sister, Curtis asks if he is going to join a gang. Rufus tells him no, because it would be a violation of his parole. Curtis tells Rufus he is thinking of joining the Little Warriors so the neighborhood boys would stop chasing him and trying to beat him up. Rufus tells Curtis he has a big brother for protection and that is all he needs...
