Gene Yang

Gene is the author, narrator, and main character of this novel. He is a teacher at Bishop O'Dowd High School. Gene divides his time between teaching, writing and illustrating graphic novels, and his family. Having just invested years in his previous graphic novel, Gene feels at a loss because he has so much time on his hand. He overhears conversations that pique his interest about the O'Dowd men's basketball team, the Dragons. He has never been a sports fan, but he quickly decides that following the team for a season will be his next project.
