Talent Show

The talent show that is held at the school features students performing some sort of talent. Greg and Rowley both wish to be part of that, but when Rowley gets hurt at Greg's house, which is Greg's fault, Rowley isn't able to do his magic act. Greg, who thinks his comedy routine will win for sure, doesn't make the cut either. However, Rodrick's band makes the cut and as a result Rodrick thinks that this is just the break that he and his band needs to rocket them to instant stardom. The talent show represents unrealistic expectations for all of the characters in that Greg thinks he's funny...and he's not, and Rodrick thinks that his band is good....and they aren't.
