Summary

Emmy took the long route home to avoid Mr. Bone and another conversation about William. Emmy saw some children playing with their dog in the park and wished she could be as carefree. She thought about Charles in this moment, thinking how he might hold her hand and make her feel better. She dismissed this thought since their relationship had not gotten so far along yet. She walked on thinking about staying busy at work until she could join the war effort.
