Summary

Emmy, Bunty, William, and Harold lined up to get into the busy tea house when Bunty pointed to two men at a table that seats four. Emmy recognized one of the men as Mr. Collins, who noticed her and invited her and Bunty to join him. Mr. Collins introduced the other, younger, man as his half-brother Captain Charles Mayhew. Emmy felt uncomfortable socializing with her superior at work, but Mr. Collins told her to forget about formalities, and even to use his first name, Guy. She found it impossible to do so.

The initial conversation was very awkward, to the point of making Charles laugh, which Mr. Collins appreciated. It was the first time he had seen his half-brother laugh since he came home on leave. During the meal, Bunty invited Charles and Mr. Collins to join her and Emmy for a movie...
