Summary

Chapter 14: "Wylan" starts as he and Jesper take a boat to gather supplies. Wylan wants to visit his mother's grave, but Kaz had demanded they return by nightfall. Wylan is nervous, but Jesper says Van Eck would be a fool to slow down the labor transport. They talk a bit about why Jesper is avoiding Colm when Jesper asks about Wylan's mother. He reveals that his mother got sick and vanished around the time Van Eck learned of his dyslexia, with Van Eck saying she died at the hospital.
