Summary

Coraline next goes upstairs to the apartment of the other crazy old man. She believes this flat will be worse even than the cellar. The apartment smells bad and is full of rats. The man speaks to her and Coraline encourages herself by reminding herself that the other mother cannot create anything but only twist real things. This thought makes Coraline wonder about the snow globe in the drawing room of her own flat.

The man calls her again, telling her nothing will have changed if she goes back to her own world. Another figure in the room begs her to stay with them saying she will have anything she wants there.
