Chapters 5-8 Summary

Chapter 5. Dresden feels uncomfortable, like he does at all parties. Eldest Gruff comes to greet Dresden and Sarissa. Sarissa addresses him as "Lord Gruff" and informs him that her care for Dresden was "Mab's price," which she doesn't explain to Dresden. They are also greeted by Lord Herne (the Erlking) and Kringle. Kringle's appearance and demeanor surprises Dresden. While Dresden is distracted, Sarissa is forcibly led away by a Sidhe wearing a Cincinnati Reds ballcap. Amid warnings, Dresden pursues them.

Chapter 6. Dresden goes after Sarissa across the dance floor, which is difficult until he calls upon his wizardly powers. Dresden confronts the Sidhe, who threatens to kill Sarissa. Dresden identifies him as The Redcap, a murderous faerie. Dresden insults him, and threatens to kill the Redcap if he kills Sarissa.
