Chapter 14

Hotel Dumort

Jace takes Clary to a Cathedral to look for weapons. He explains that shadowhunters have a deal with the various religions of the world. The shadowhunters do not belong to one set religion, and in return, all religions help the shadowhunters kill demons. Clary admits that she has never been in a real church before, not counting the Institute, of course. Jace gives her a quick tour of how a cathedral is set up, then heads to the alter to find the weapons. After equipping them for possible combat with the vampires, Jace takes Clary to the Hotel Dumont, and the lair of the vampires.

Jace and Clary find the hotel boarded and bricked up, with the only visible way in being from the roof. Since they can not fly, as the vampires do, they have to find...
