Chapters 4, 5, and 6 Summary

In Chapter 4, when Clary gets home, her neighbor pesters her about the noise her mother had been making upstairs. She tells Clary that it sounded like she was moving furniture around. Clary races upstairs to find the door to the apartment unlocked and hanging open. Inside, her mother is nowhere to be found, and the apartment is a wreck. While she is searching for her mom, Clary runs into a ravener demon, an ugly crawling creature from Hell that is set on eating her. She tries to fight it off, but it is strong. Once Clary remembers the sensor in her pocket, she takes it out and jams it down the demon's throat. The demon swallows it, and Clary is sure that she will be next. Then, suddenly, the demon twitches and dies. Clary runs for the door, but gets stung...
