Chapters 10 and 11 Summary

In chapter ten, with Raphael guiding them, they take Simon to a cemetery and bury him in a shallow grave. Raphael explains that Simon has to dig his way out of the earth in order to be reborn as a vampire. Jace takes Clary a short distance away until Simon's body is covered. Magnus arrives with animal blood from a butcher shop. Clary is there when Simon rises and he's so thirsty for blood that he attacks her initially. Raphael steps in, feeding Simon who is covered in blood by the time he's sated. Raphael says Simon's next feeding won't be "so messy." Clary is as repulsed as the others and runs into the woods, gagging.

In chapter eleven, Clary arrives at Beth Israel hospital where her mother is. Clary takes a seat beside Jocelyn and begins to talk, pouring out...
